Good morning, ladies, and welcome back to another episode of Kamara Speaks. I am your host, Kamara. I am a certified professional life coach for women, as well as a healthcare executive and mom of two, for those of you who don't know me. And for those of you who are tuning in again, I'm so glad you're here. And I'm doing something a little unconventional this week. I am speaking off the cuff. This is not really a prepared podcast in curriculum. And I think I'm going to go back to Motivational Tuesdays, which was something that I did when I had the Tiara's and Lipstick podcast a couple of years ago. And since now that I've relaunched Kamara Speaks, I'm realizing we've had some jam-packed podcasts with lots of information, with exercises, with journaling things that we need to do. And there are a lot of takeaways and a lot of information. So I'm thinking every so often, let's keep it a little light. So this week, um, it's not Tuesday, it's actually Thursday, I think, that this will be posted. So it's motivational Thursday. Although I think I will move it back to Tuesdays. It's good to start off the week with something motivational. And I'm going to try to keep it light where we talk about a quote or something to focus on for the week. And it's not so jam-packed with information because I'm realizing it's a lot to take away and unpacked. And then once you unpack it, you come back next week or the week after and you get a whole bunch more information. So for those of you who are looking for a deep dive, you know where to find me. For those of you who are looking to join the wait list, go to TRSlipstick.com to jump on the wait list for the collective. That's gonna be my membership where we are gonna do a deep dive and have a lot of information to unpack and talk about different things on a regular basis. But for today, for this week, we're gonna keep it light and I'm gonna talk about fear. And I'm gonna talk about it, and I haven't prepared this full podcast, so I'm actually talking right off the cuff. You know, sometimes I have notes, but not too many notes this week. And I'm talking about fear without my notes because I've talked to a number of women over the last couple of days on a number of different topics, and fear keeps coming up. It's something that seems to stop us in our tracks, whether we're in a relationship, whether we're going through a health journey or a religious journey or a career journey. It seems like whatever it is that we're encountering in life, whatever challenge sets before us, and sometimes what even success lies ahead. I've found women that have landed their dream job or got a job offer that they can't actually uh believe and didn't anticipate getting. And somehow fear still sets in. It's uh it's like this unbelievable um stopgap that seems to um, I don't know, hinder us in our progress, in our thinking. And sometimes it takes away from the positive aspects of life, right? A lot of times fear may stop us from moving forward into something we need to do, or may stop us from something that we could be afraid of. It could be something negative. And sometimes fear doesn't stop us, but it actually takes away from the joy that something in life is bringing to us. So I'll give you an example. Let's say you do land that dream job, or let's say you do find that Mr. Wright or some um partner that's a great partner in a relationship, and then you worry about all the bad things that can happen. The bad things that can happen in the job, the bad things that can happen in the relationship, what outcomes could occur. You know, you worry about saying or doing the wrong thing that might had an adverse, have an adverse effect on whatever it is that you're encountering or anticipating to encounter. And instead of enjoying the moment, instead of being present in the joy, instead of thanking God or the universe for the blessing that has been bestowed in your life, you spend your time worrying about what if. And that what if takes and steals our joy. It's a lie, ladies. The what if is a lie. Remove what if from your vocabulary in that aspect. And I want to encourage you to think as if. It's not a very um long podcast, but I'll throw it at the end of this one. But as if, as if the relationship is going to be successful as it is, and will remain that way. Walk around as if you are walking on clouds, as if the universe is on your side. As if God is looking out for you all the time. Just walk around like that and stop thinking about the what ifs. Sometimes what doesn't come. But sometimes we focus and think about it so much that what comes automatically because we almost speak it into existence and think it into existence. So stop it. Take it away, ignore it, remove it from your vocabulary, focus on something else. So two things. The title of this podcast, which I think um from that motivational uh old podcast that I have, is Fear Kills More Dreams Than Failure Ever Will. We seem to focus so much on the failure and what outcome will happen if we don't succeed, and we don't seem to focus on what happens if we do. So that's takeaway number one. Stop living in fear, ladies. There's nothing to be afraid of. There is always something that can happen. And I'm not saying it to be negative, but there is, right? You could walk out the door and something can happen. And strange things like that do happen to people. Things fall from the sky, lightning strikes. There's a a whole myriad of things that can happen. From the minute you wake up, you may not even wake up. So let's be thankful that we're alive and well and that you can listen to this podcast and that we're all awake and alive, and that we woke up this morning. So there's always, always something that can happen. So don't even think about it. Think think about what can happen if you succeed. Think about what you want to do and just focus on that and do it. And don't think about the what if. For my for my um Christian and religious ladies out there, I did put a quote on my Instagram um uh profile this past week, and the quote is from the Bible, it is from Romans 8.31, and it basically says, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? And I love that quote. It basically reiterates the whole fear fear kills more dreams. Because for those of you who are faithful, like myself, when you think about God being for you, when you think about him being in your corner, when you think about him loving you as your father, when you think about him being on your side and looking out for you no matter what, then you walk out the front door after you wake up in the morning, and you approach life and the day as if nothing bad's gonna happen. There is no what if. He's got all the what-ifs in hand, and that's something that I think we need to hold on to and that we seem to forget. So I'm here to remind you on this motivational Thursday that that's what you need to focus on for the week. It's towards the end of the week, but for the rest of the week, and maybe through the weekend, until the next motivational Tuesday. Just focus on that. Just think about the quote. Maybe put it in your phone, put it on a sticky pad by your desk, put it on a post-it note on your mirror in the bathroom at home, and focus on if God is for you, who can be against you? And those that are, they're not gonna succeed. He's got your back. I know he's got mine, so I'm telling you he's got yours. So focus on that. And for those ladies who are not faithful and don't necessarily believe in God, I will pray for you. However, for those of you who think about the universe, think about it this way. The universe also has your back. The universe actually is looking out for you as well. You did wake up this morning, and somehow things always seem to work out. So don't have the fear, and don't let the fear kill the dreams that are living within you, the ideas that you have, the actions you want to take. And they may seem scary. I'm not saying that they can't be a little scary. I can't say that they may seem a little large, they may loom a little big, they may even be a little intimidating, right? Sometimes the dreams that we have, they seem even unrealistic. But it still doesn't mean that we need to fear them. And it still doesn't mean that we need to be afraid to take action to move towards them. So whatever dreams, whatever goals that you have for this week, for this month, for this year. We're at the halfway point, ladies. You joined me hopefully back at January 1st. And if you didn't, go back to listen to some of the first podcasts, because we start on this journey together and we set off setting goals for the year. So where are you? Where are you in your task list? Where are you and how are you moving towards that dream or goal that you set at the beginning of the year? It's June. Can you believe it? Six months later. We've got six more months in 2026 and a lot more years ahead of us. However, for those of us who are midlife and a little older, we have a lot more years, but not as much as our younger counterparts. So let's make the most and the best of the time that we have. And that starts today. And that starts now, ladies. No one's promised tomorrow. Like I said, anything can happen. So let's not focus on that. Let's focus on what we can achieve and what we want to achieve, starting now, starting today. And let's act as if we do have all the time in the world. And let's act as if we can achieve the goal and the dream that we set out to achieve at the beginning of the year. So focus and dream and think about these things this week. Alright, ladies. That's it for this week. Hold on while I transfer you over to the old Motivational Tuesday that also talks about this quote from my TRS and Lux Sick podcast from a couple of years ago. Alright, enjoy it, ladies, and have a fantastic rest of the week and weekend. Good morning, ladies. It's Motivational Tuesday, January 24th. I still can't even believe that we are almost into February. Anyway, on to the quote of the week. I love this one. It's a good one. So listen up. The quote for today and for the week is Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will. I'll say it again. Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will. It's so important to realize this. You don't realize how paralyzing fear can be. So what is fear? Fear defined is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous or likely to cause pain. It's a threat. Or you could say fear is an unpleasant, often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger. Either one can be paralyzing for you. And either one can stop you from achieving what you need to achieve and to focus on a positive outcome. It can set you back and it can stop you cold. But you have to strategize to come to overcome those fears and to push forward, as scary as it may be for the unknown ahead. I can't name how many times in my life I've been afraid of taking some type of risk. And it's usually a calculated risk. And if I thought back, I'd realize it wasn't as scary as I thought it was at the time. I've also realized that's what successful women do, right? They take calculated risks and they strategize and they push forward, regardless of the outcome. So here's my tip, at least a quick tip for overcoming some fears. Talk to yourself and state what it is that you want. What is your short-term goal? What are you looking to achieve? What is going to make you happy? It could be losing a few pounds, it could be going back to school and taking a course, it could be starting a new career. But write it down and be specific. Keep it in front of you. Put it up on the wall, have it in your car. Just make sure that you keep it in your mind. And then take some time, perhaps the next day, and write down what the fear is that you have about moving towards that goal. What's the worst that can happen? Why is it so terrible? Why are you afraid? And sometimes when you write that down, you'd be surprised what your own fear actually tells you. And you'll realize it's not a good reason to not push forward and take a chance. It's not a good reason to stop. So then write down how how would you overcome that fear? And don't be afraid if you don't have the answers, but it gets your mind thinking, okay, so what's the worst that would happen? You don't succeed, so you could try again? But is it any better than if you never tried at all? Remember the quote is fear kills more dreams. It kills dreams, and you can't let that happen. And then next and lastly, write down all the things you could achieve with success. What happens if you push forward and you actually make it? What could actually go right if you actually move forward towards whatever it is that you're looking to do? What if you knew you could be successful? My brother once told me to approach everything, quote unquote, as if. And I try to keep that in my mind. It's such a great quote. I think he got it from a movie. I think it's the boiler room, if I'm saying that correctly. But it's as if you approach your job as if you were the CEO. You approach weight loss as if you're already thin. You approach it as if you know you are going to be successful. Not that you can, that you will, that you will be successful. And that's where self-confidence comes in, which is something I talk about all the time. It's so important. You gotta practice mindfulness. I know it's a skill. Not everyone has it. You do have to practice, you do have to build it, because that mindfulness is what gives you the self-confidence to think as if. And imagine if you approached everything as if you knew you were going to be successful. You'd be surprised how successful and what you'd actually accomplish in a day. So once again, acknowledge those challenges. Write down what it is that you want and write down what it is that your fear is. Write down why it would be so terrible, and then write down what if things could go right. Focus on the positive end result and focus on the fact that you will get there. And you will. I'm confident that you will.
